Key Figures
The EMF produces statistics and analysis on mortgage and housing
markets in Europe. The collection of these statistics and the analysis of the
data is possible thanks to the cooperation and knowledge of National Experts in
EMF member organisations from the different Member States of the EU.
The EMF’s statistics cover 33 countries and include a variety of figures, such
as mortgage debt outstanding, mortgage debt as a percentage of GDP, and figures
relating to funding i.e. covered bonds outstanding.
The EMF statistical publications include:
- Regular publications: Hypostat and the Quarterly Review.
- Ad hoc studies relevant to the mortgage credit sector: The study on cost
of housing in Europe (January 2006) and the study on interest rate variability
in Europe (July 2006) are the latest published studies.
- Factsheets: Country Factsheets provide a brief overview of the functioning
of housing and mortgage markets at country level. They include links to
external sources of information such as research papers of relevance to the
topic.
